Say What?

While walking through Toronto's Chinatown district yesterday, I stumbled upon a storefront showcasing pieces which seemed to harbour an uncanny resemblance to those found at Artizia. After combing through all of the merchandise, I realised that this store clearly shared the same Chinese clothing manufacturer as Aritizia. The kicker is that this store was selling items such as Aritzia's long, belted, wool peacoat, but for approximately $200 less. In addition, this store was also selling some identical hip-length wool peacoats as well as some "TNA-style" classic zip-up hoodies - all for 1/3 of the price. To further solidify my hypothesis, The TNA-resembling items had the same clothing tags as their Aritzia counterparts, but with a small butterfly where the branded TNA logo would be. The store is called Z Cloding Ltd -(not a spelling mistake) and is located at 222 Spadina Ave, in between Dundas St & Queen St. Can you say mark up?

Matte Finish

I am sure a lot of you have come across Knock Out's Matte Nail Poilish which is currently being sold at Aritzia for $21. Available in 9 different colours, this great product truly does goes on 100% matte - I even tried it. The thing is, 21 bones for nail polish just doesn't seem right - so I went in search for a comparable product at a reduced price.... And I found it! Sephora by OPI makes its own Matte line of polishes which are equally as matte (yes, I also tried it) and are more kindly priced at $12. If you are interested, the choice is definitely yours - but I promise you both products are equally as matte....the only difference you will notice is in price. Happy Shopping!

Turban Outfitters

Very likely inspired by Ms. Carmen Miranda (below), turban-chic has managed to work its way into the personal style of Kate Moss, Ashley Olsen, Beyonce and of course all of our street-stylin' Stylista Fashionistas out there. I am personally a huge proponent of almost any type of headwear...will you too be keeping it under wraps this season?

The King & Queen

Stylista Fashionista Pop Quiz: Anna Wintour is to American Vogue as Karl Lagerfeld is to _________?

Interview with the King himself

Exhibit A displays a candid shot of Ms Miroslava Duma (ahem our Russian "It" girl) interviewing none other than Mr Karl Lagerfeld at the Chanel show in Moscow. For the relatively new Stylista Fashionistas out there, Mr Lagerfeld is the head designer & creative director for the little-known fashion house C-H-A-N-E-L.

Holla Back Harem

Ok if your freaking out at the sight of these pants, you aren't the first to hate on them for whatever 'justifiable' reason you may feel you have. For the rest of us out there, I believe that - when done right - Harem pants can look incredible. The bottom line is you must have an appreciation for an envelope-pushing silhouette. In addition, for this look to be successful you must know how to work the other pieces in your look to ensure that A) your body doesn't get lost in the volume, and B) your figure maintains some sort of identifiable shape. It is also a good idea to wear a cropped cardigan or sweater with your pants - nothing that falls below the hipbone - to ensure the volume of the pants remains the focal point of your look.

The Chosen One...for tonight

Hey Girls. Regardless of what tonight's events might include - throw on some flat oxfords (I recently hooked up a similar pair from Forever 21 for $25....uhhh what?), black leggings, some sort of sick racer-back tank or concert-style tee, oversized contrasting boyfriend blazer and of course some chunky and/or studded accessories - a la our stylista fashionista model here. xx

Des Bottes Pour Les Hommes

As exhibited by Nico Archambault -winner of SYTYCD Canada (above pic-front row, centre), combat-inspired boots and fitted denim are pretty much a match made in heaven. You can have fashion and warmth during the winter months, by pairing any of the following boot ideas with fitted dark denim, a white deep-v and salt-&-pepper zip-up hoodie or cardigan.

The Six O' Six Convertible Boot by John Varvatos. ($598 retail - sale anyone?)

John Varvatos boots (regular $450 but on sale at Browns for $299). Run.

My ultimate faves, which also happen to be a bit pricey- Hugo Boss ($745).

Sebago Lighthouse boot - $145 (online at www.sebago.com)

Bunker Boot regular $145 on Sale for $159 at Browns-def my second faves in both style and price.

Russia's "IT" Girl

This girl truly has got it going on. INSANE style + wealthy Russian family = Miroslava Duma.
As a previous fashion editor for Harper’s Bazaar Russia, Mira now spends her days contributing to several publications such as Glamour Russia, OK Magazine (Russia), and Tatler Magazine. In addition, this bona-fide Stylista Fashionista is also a young humanitarian who volunteers her time for for a number of charitable events and foundations. It is nice to come across a Style Icon who is also worthy of the title of Role Model. I dont think I've said the following phrase since 1997, but.....You Go Girl.

Orange leather dress? We all need to start taking notes....
