It's (almost) the Most Wonderful Time of the Year...

The biggest fashion party in history a.k.a Fashion's Night Out is back in business for another amazing night of celebs, swag, culture and of course fashion everywear you look.
Check out the official Fashion's Night Out website (http://www.fashionsnightout.com/) for full event listings as well a bonus little tool to plan your own itinerary.

I for one am going to try my Canadian best to get down to NYC to experience the big night out with my best friend, TFTP.
So strap on your best non-walking shoes and the most ridiculous outfit you can think of and I'll see you there!

Cut. THEM. Out.

Aight peeps listen up. As part of the summer season we have all had an unfortunate taste of those god-awful "cut-out" tees. Don't get me wrong, I'm not referring to racerbacks, exposed zippers or detailing of any kind - I simply loathe the cut-out. I don't care where the particular cut-out is, I am simply against them as in my opinion they have zero visual appeal or functionality.

Are they supposed to be sexy? Casual with a revelaing component? Comfortable?

I am finding myself a bit confused as I was previously under the impression that a tee-shirt, by definition, was supposed to exclusively represent the category of casual wears....so why, dear friends, why do we continue to encounter these undefinable fashion crimes against humanity?

Welcome Welcome

Victoria's Secret has finally been revealed: The American retail giant is coming to Toronto on August 26, 2010.
Now doesn't it feel better to finally have that little tid-bit of info out in the open?
Teeheehee (I'm deliriously tired).

I Back You

Madonna's not-so-little material girl is quickly becoming the hottest Stylista Fashionista on our watch. I have personally been following this pint-sized socialite since she popped out in late '96 and have always thought of her as having exceptional personal style.

At the ripe old age of 13, Lourdes Maria Ciccone Leon aka Lola has taken the fashion industry by storm with the launch of her new clothing line (ahem, co-designed with Mama Madonna) so creatively called Material Girl. The line is aimed at tweeny teen teens and is largely comprised of the kind of "costumewear" depicted in Madonna's music videos from the late 80's.

I personally wish Lola all the best with her new endeavour and look forward to seeing what she wears - I mean comes out with, next.

Lost + Found

....Still on the Stefano Pilati bandwagon, I happened to come across this candid snapshot of Mr. SP himself sharing a momentary embrace with Chloe Sevigny.
Enjoy.

sp-haute-light

One of my all-time favourite fashion inspirations, Julia Restoin Roitfeld, was recently featured on Vogue.com's Today I'm Wearing segment for the month of June. As the daughter of Carine [:)] Roitfeld (editor of French Vogue), it is crystal clear where Julia attained her stylish blue blood.

For those of you who aren't yet familiar with the Today I'm Wearing feature, the idea is to chronicle a prominent fashion icon's style everyday for one month via personally submitted photos. Other notable past Stylista Fashionistas include Alexa Ching (Feb), Olivia Palermo (April) & Coco Rocha (July).

Ok Spectacle.

After my much-loved circle Ray-Bans got crushed in a friendly embrace on the weekend, I decided the time was right to seek out some sick new shades. After experiencing the relentless dissappointment of Holt Renfrew's overly mainstream sunglass collection, I headed over to Queen west to see what the trendsters had in store for me.

For the first time I visited the luxury eyewear boutique Spectacle. I have to say I somewhat back their enhanced selection of both eye and sunglasses, however I do not back their ridiculous employees, who off-the-bat ambush you while refering to themselves as (and this is no joke) "Facial Specialists." Strike One.

I proceeded to ask if they carried the Dita 'Insider' sunglasses and I was told Dita only makes the 'Insider' frame for eyeglasses - which is a big fat lie. After enlightening this "knowledgeable" "facial specialist" with the fact that I had previously owned a pair of these sunglasses, she then consulted the head "facial specialist" who informed me with an attitude that they could possibly order them for me. Sorry for asking? Strike 2.

Finally, I asked if they carried the brand "Shwood" in store. I was looked at like I was an absolute idiot, as none of the "facial specialists" had ever heard of them. So I did what any proud Stylista Fashionista would do and I told them to look up the damn website...
The retard- I mean "facial stylist" crew was amazed Shwood actually existed without their knowledge, which made them very unhappy. So they decided to try and one-up me by telling me Spectacle wouldn't carry a label with a visible logo anyway - total BS as I'm pretty sure their friend Prada is anything but covert. And as the kicker, they threw in that Shwood didn't even deliver to Canada - which again, they do.
Strike 3 - Spectacle is Out.

Return of the Maxi

Ready or not, please welcome back the wonderous maxi skirt to the Fall 2010 trend collection. Classic and timeless, a part of me is glad to see the new millenium revival of this 90s trend.

F(ashion)YI 2

Did you know?

In 1936 the United States government commissioned Ray-Ban to design sunglasses for their Air Force pilots.

After more than 70 years, the Av's have managed to successfully maintain their popularity. As a reuslt, the model worn by the Aviators in 1936 and those worn by modern-day Stylista Fashionistas alike has remained virtually unchanged.
Now thats what I call a classic tale.
