Best Boutique in TO...Hands Down

From the buying to the visual merchandising to the knowledgable service to the impeccable taste - Rac Boutique is a force to be reckoned with in the upscale Yorkville neighborhood. You gotta love a boutique that has a keen eye for modern fashion and that supports designers of both the internationally-established and emerging/unknown varieties all under one fantastic roof.

Rac's designer labels range from Mara Hoffman to Eternal Child to (Toronto-born) Ashley Rowe. My personal favourite is Sass & Bide - their innovative tribal-inspired tees are sheer genius & are essentially the answer to every Stylista Fashionista's fashion prayers.

I, for one, was a smitten Rac kitten at first glance of their always-intriguing front window display.
Go. Shop. Now.

Divine Fashion Inspiration

I give you: Versus pleated satin cut-out dress extraordinaire.

Ay Caramba! Designer Christopher Kane has done it again.

I don't know what it is, but I continue to be allured by the aesthetic design of the cut-out dress time and time again.

Oh and just so all of us Stylista Fashionistas are on the same page, Versus is the diffusion fashion line of Versace.

And now for the bad news...Retail price: $2,495

See you in my dreams!

For Lack of a Better Word....

I hate the term girl crush, but for lack of a better word I have a huge one on The Man Repeller. For those of you not familiar with this revolutionary term, check out this definition straight from this amazing website itself.:

Q: What is a man repeller?

A: Someone who outfits themselve in a sartorially offensive way that will
result in repelling members of the opposite sex. Such garments include but are
not limited to harem pants, boyfriends jeans, overalls, shoulder pads,
full-length jumpsuits, jewelry that resembles violent weaponry and
clogs.

Finally, someone who understands the challenges of being a Stylista Fashionista in today's "skinny jeans and going-out top" world.

My advice? Go forth and continue wearing ridiculously-sized bows in your hair and feather skirts for no apparent reason. We salute you man repeller, we salute you hard.

Valentino for Gap.

This coming Friday, Gap x Valentino will be releasing a seven piece capsule collection to celebrate the much-anticipated launch of Gap stores across Italy. I know, I know, I am also finding it pretty shocking that Gap didnt exist in Italy until November 26, 2010!

The sad news for all of us Western Stylista Fashionistas is that this collection will only be available in select stores across Europe: Paris, Rome, Milan & London. Why? To make em' Europeans more stylish than they already are? Sheesh.

Happy One Year, Baby.

On this very day....exactly one year ago....I couldn't be prouder to announce....that the love of my life - www.StylistaFashionista.com - was born.

You'll never know what you mean to me.

Here's to many more years together. Love you.

Random Subway Observation: #2

Fashion No No: Girls wearing sports jerseys with stilettos.

Laydeez I (sorta) understand wanting to still look hot at the big game while wearing your team's jersey, however sportin' a pair of stilettos with any form of a sports jersey simply does not work. I assure you, this look will never be cute nor will it be fashionably acceptable amongst your onlooking, subway-riding peers.

Dont worry, you can take one night off from being a sexy lady and drink a good ol' beer while wearing your good ol' flats at the good ol' hockey game.

Now if that's not true love I don't know what is.

Random Subway Observation: #1

I'm sure many of you are similar to myself in that you can't help but people watch - I mean stare - when you ride the subway.

I must admit I see a lot of amazing outfits and inspring styling ideas, but with the good inevitably comes the bad.

Enter: The Footwear Files

We need to understand that there is a big difference between loafer/mocassin shoes & loafer/mocassin slippers. Slippers simply cannot be worn outside (especially not in colder climates like Toronto) because their soles are literally made of styrofoam.
A lot of skateboard companies have designed slipper-versions of loafers and mocassins which I totally back for fashionable indoor use...but bring that shit outside and you instantly tag yourself as a fashion mishap. So, fellow brothers and sisters, I challenge you to check those soles and stick to this simple fashion rule of wearing shoes outside and slippers inside!

Guess which pair are slippers and which are mocassins? Or are they sole-sisters? hardy har har.

Yesterday I learned something...

Cole Haan (men's) loafers are not expensive. To be more specific, a brand spankin' new purr will run you anywhere between $99 to $148. And lest we forget that Cole Hann uses Nike AIR technology in its soles to make them that much more comfy.

Not a bad deal at all considering the crap they sell at Aldo goes for $90 to $130 and is constructed from the worst quality imaginable. I hate that place. No half sizes? Who are they kidding.
Every man needs a good pair of loafers. Cole Haan all the way.
